(Note: These below summer camps are IN ADDITION to the many performing arts programs
and classes which run year-round through various park districts and theatre troupes.)

David Adler Music and Arts Center

Camp Adler 2008 allows creative youth, ages 7 to 13, to explore and develop interests in music, art and drama. Campers choose a different class each period of the day to create a schedule based on their interests. They also participate in a variety of group games and activities, theme days and entertainment by guest artists. At the conclusion of Camp Adler, campers' creative accomplishments will be showcased at Celebration of the Arts, an evening of exhibits and performances. Tuition is $775; $725 for members of the Adler Center.

June Session: June 9 thru June 27. July Session: July 7 thru July 25. A Half-day Camp option has been re-instated for campers aged 4-7 years!

Citadel Theatre

Citadel Theatre of Lake Forest offers the A.C.T. (Academy @ Citadel Theatre) Summer Performance Camp, which is excited to bring you Stephen Sondheims's Tony Award winning musical, Into The Woods, Jr. This summer camp will develop the young artists in all aspects of the theater, from improvisation, music, movement and design to the final production itself.

Camp runs Mon-Thurs 9AM-1PM June 16 to July 11, with performances July 12 and 13 in the Deerpath Middle School Theater. Sophomore Camp is for ages 8-11; Senior Camp is for ages 12-17. Eileen Boevers Performing Arts Workshop (EBPAW)

Eileen Boevers Performing Arts Workshop is now accepting enrollment for two performing arts camps for Grades 4 – 8 (one camp tp be held in Deerfield, the other in Highland Park).

SUMMER STOCK and SPOTLIGHTERS (NEW Combined Camp!): 6-week camp from June 11 - July 20, 2007; Mon-Fri from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm; no camp July 4. For grades 4-8. Site: CARUSO MIDDLE SCHOOL, 1836 Montgomery Ave., Deerfield IL. Registration is taken through the Deerfield Park District 847/945-0650. Campers spend part of their day developing skills in drama, dance, voice and art. Aspiring young actors and actresses will enjoy daily open swim, and rehearse for a musical show which will top off a terrific summer.

2) SUMMER ON STAGE: 6-week camp from June 16 - July 25, 2008; Mon-Fri from 9:00 am-2:30 pm; no camp July 4. For grades 4-8. Site: APPLE TREE THEATRE, 1850 Green Bay Road, Highland Park. Camp days consist of high energy classes in drama, voice, dance, and art; recreational swimming at Hidden Creek AquaPark; field trips; special “theme days” and rehearsals for an original musical production presented on Apple Tree's stage during the final week of camp.

Genesee Performing Arts Camp

The Genesee Theatre, along with Dancenter North! presents Genesee Theatre's Performing Arts Camp. Children in 3rd through 8th grades will have the opportunity to sing, dance, act and learn theater fundamentals in an "entertaining" way.

Professional theatre, dance and music artists teach the fundamentals of performance and production while encouraging growth, ingenuity and individual expression. Campers learn the exciting elements needed to produce a major Broadway-style show that will be performed in front of a live audience on the Genesee Theatre’s historic stage as the culmination of the six-week camp. This year’s show will be the crowd-pleasing and award-winning hit musical – Bye Bye Birdie.

The 6-week summer program will run from June 16 through July 26 on Mon, Wed, & Fri from 9:30a.m. - 2:30p.m. Cost is $550 (by March 17), $650 afterwards.

Gorton Community Center Summer Theatre Academy

The Gorton Community Center of Lake Forest, IL offers a summer theatre camp called PASTA or "Performing Arts Summer Theatre Academy", featuring a production of Willy Wonka Jr.

Camp Oompa-Loompa for ages 8 – 11; Camp Wonka for ages 12 - 17. Students receive a Willy Wonka T-shirt, daily snacks and drinks, and 4 complimentary tickets to a performance. Under the direction of Golden Apple Award-winning teacher Tom Beck. PASTA runs from June 16 to July 13 from 9:00 AM to Noon M-F.

A comprehensive, performance-based, theater arts camp through which participants will learn aspects of acting, singing, dancing, improv, tech, costume design and set design with an end-of-session production. All ages will develop a multitude of theatre and life skills as they act and work together under Golden Apple Award-winning teacher Tom Beck.

Jack Benny Center for the Arts: “Fun Arts” Summer Program

Fun Arts Summer Program: Designed especially for grades 1- 5, Fun Arts is a full day arts experience. This program will include art, music, theatre, and dance. Students will explore the arts and see how they all relate to each other. This program is designed to give students more knowledge and a better appreciation for the arts. Groups will be divided into familiar age groups.

This 3-week program will run 9am - 5pm Monday thru Friday from July 14 thru August 01; must be registered by Jul 07. Costs: $295/$354

Improv Playhouse Performing Arts Day Camps [.pdf/Adobe]

Registration is in progress for several Summer Performing Arts Day Camps offered by Improv Playhouse.

Various sessions include: Summer Musical Theatre Day Camp ("Willy Wonka"); "The Music Man" Music Theater Camp; "Schoolhouse Rock" Music Theater Camp; Improvisation and Theater Games Camps; "Tween" Film Making Camp; Teen Film Making Camp.

The Willy Wonka Musical Theatre Camp will be held at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center. Other camps will be held at either the Highland Middle School in Libertyville, or one of the two Improv Playhouse locations in Libertyville.
