(May 04, 2008) In addition to ongoing training opportunities throughout the year, and a theatre-arts related Summer Camp, Improv Playhouse in Libertyville offers these special adult and youth programs for the summer:

Actor's Arsenal:  Monologue and Scene Prep for Audtions and Performance will be offered for adults on Saturdays 10am-12:30pm, 6/21- 8/2, $245, by Courtney Shaughnessy, actor and resident playwright and one of the four founding members of Serendipity Theatre Company (Chicago) and teaching staff member at Improv Playhouse (Libertyville).  This intensive workshop will engage the actor in a customized preparation process for several audition categories. The class concludes with a showcase of the actor's arsenal for top Chicago Casting Directors who will provide nurturing feedback and a Q&A Session about the Chicago/Midwest market.  Adam Belcuore, Goodman Theater Casting Director, and Matt Miller of TPR Casting will be at this summer's showcase. 

One Act: This teen-only acting and writing drama workshop will be offered on Mondays 7-10p, 6/16-7/28, by Courtney Shaughnessy of the Serendipity Theatre Company and Improv Playhouse.  Having led a similar workshop at Steppenwolf Theatre, this process oriented workshop will engage the actors in ensemble building through a writing, movement and coaching process resulting in an original piece of theater to be staged and performed publically.  Limited enrollment of 10 students.
