About the owner:
Melanie Fuhrmann has lived in Round Lake Beach for the last 9+ years with her husband Ed and son Carl.
A musician from the start, she received a Bachelor of Music in Applied Voice from Adrian College in Michigan, and a
Master's Degree in Voice Performance from Indiana University.
Residing in Virgina early in her career, Melanie sang professionally with the Virginia Symphony Chorus and Virginia
Opera Chorus, while teaching voice at the Community Music Academy of Old Dominion University. During
summers, she was a stage singer at Busch Gardens " The Old Country" Theme Park in Williamsburg.
Moving to Hawaii with her husband, she sang with the Hawai'i Vocal Arts Ensemble and Oahu Choral Society,
performed as a soloist at several area churches and venues, and as a contract singer for weddings (at the rate of
25-45 weddings per month) for tourists from Japan.
Returning to the Midwest, Melanie signed-on as a soprano with the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra's Chorus. After completing five seasons, she has taken a break from the group to spend more time in the Lake County performing arts community. She is currently on the Voice Faculty at the College of Lake County, and is the Voice Department
Chair at the David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville IL.
Additionally, she maintains a small voice studio from her home, and is active as a church soloist and substitute on
the organ and piano.
Melanie met her husband Ed while they were both auditioning for the Virginia Symphony Chorus. Ed also performed in a Baroque Recorder Ensemble in Virgina Beach/Norfolk. Before moving to Virginia, he was in the Charleston Symphony Singers' Guild (the choral arm of the Chrleston SC Symphony Orchestra), where he performed in the Spoleto Festival USA.
